The quarry at Penmaenmawr covers a vast area. It used to be the case in the days of Kingston minerals and other predecessors that the locals had reasonably unrestricted access to the site. Why would you want access to the site? Well in a nutshell, the site borders the Snowdonia national park. Some of the views from the old workings are truly spectacular. Views over Anglesey and views down the Menai Straits are magnificent. Over the last 5+ years though Hanson have been stealthily denying access. They will argue about vandalism/security and safety. I certainly don't condone vandalism and to some extent sympathise, however is the real reason more because they have something to hide... This is a view looking toward Llanfairfechan of a waste pile from one of the few accessible footpaths. Hanson have now installed a "grading" machine which is creating enormous amounts of dust, sadly the council seem powerless to help stop this. This is what's up there. This is an old transformer building, in my mind just waiting to bury some wayward Kid alive. This old cable is buried everywhere. Another deathtrap footpath. A |
