Can You Help?

Penmaenmawr Quarry has been in existence for over 100 years (indeed there has been quarrying since neolithic times) and in its heyday, it was the employer in the village, indeed the area, employing up to 2000 men in the days of Samuel Darbyshire.

Of course times change and so has ownership and control and the business now employs less than 30 individuals; the power of mechanisation!

What this of course means is that there is little economic reward for the village in having the Quarry on our doorstep. Sure the company could argue that there are subsidiary businesses supported by the site; transport, local trades people etc, but the reality is that the financial rewards are now very slight. The majority of the jobs within the business are not highly paid so how much gain against pain is there?

Anyway, For the last few years  we have had;

On our doorsteps.
